Colorado Academy provides a relevant and dynamic liberal arts education for an ever-changing world. CA is an educational community for students Pre-K through Grade 12. Located on a 94-acre campus in southwest Denver, three academic divisions are complemented with exceptional arts and athletic programs that are available to every Lower School, Middle School, and Upper School student.

CA students are highly motivated, perform at above average to exceptional ability, and seek academic challenge and community engagement. The curriculum emphasizes group and individual study of the liberal arts and sciences, and engagement through experiential and service learning. Admission is selective, and CA’s financial aid program advances the goal of a diverse and inclusive student population. CA is noted for a rigorous, college preparatory curriculum with a rich selection of elective offerings in the Upper School. CA students experience a broad and deep range of arts, athletics, and outdoor/experiential educational programming. CA also values an active commitment to service.

The school emphasizes 21st century skills, including: critical thinking and problem solving, communication, collaboration, creativity, character development, and cultural competence. Solid core teaching in courses including reading, writing, literature, the sciences, mathematics, global languages, computer science/engineering, and history/civics provides a strong educational foundation. CA strives to develop the whole child through a rich, challenging, and balanced curriculum within a caring, future-focused community. In the Upper School, Colorado Academy offers a college preparatory liberal arts and sciences curriculum with academic options ranging from Electives and Advanced Placement (AP) to Advanced Studies and Research (ASR), CA’s own college-level classes that challenge students to pursue deeper, multidisciplinary questions.

The heart of the school is its faculty—a group of caring and dedicated professionals who are knowledgeable about their subjects, children, and the process of learning. More than 74% of CA faculty have advanced degrees. Faculty also advise, coach, sponsor student activities, and chair committees.

Grounded in its mission to create curious, kind, courageous, and adventurous learners and leaders, CA inspires thoughtful individuals who are ready to transform the future.

Kent Denver School is an independent, coeducational college preparatory school with 655 students in grades 6 through 12. Located on 200 acres of open space just 15 minutes from downtown Denver, Kent Denver offers a rigorous academic curriculum complemented by competitive athletics, creative performing and visual arts, and a wide range of nationally recognized extracurricular activities. The educational environment teaches students to think and solve problems, to write and speak effectively, to work cooperatively, and to gain a broad view of the world. Kent Denver School is governed by a board of trustees as a nonprofit institution without religious affiliation.

“Excellence in scholarship and character,” the vision statement of Kent Denver, best describes its educational philosophy. A challenging academic program is at the heart of the school. Kent Denver strives to strike a balance between teaching fundamental literacies and encouraging students to pursue their individual interests, talents, and abilities; between teaching skills and teaching material; between instilling habits of rigor and discipline, and inspiring whimsy and creativity.

Kent Denver is a private school that is committed to serving the public good. Collectively, students at Kent Denver perform more than 15,000 hours of community service each year. In addition, the school hosts Summerbridge at Kent Denver, whose mission is to increase educational opportunities for underserved, motivated middle school students in targeted Denver Public Schools and to train high school and college-age students to enter careers in education.

Kent Denver was created through the merger of The Kent School for Girls, founded in 1922, and Denver Country Day School for boys, founded in 1953. What emerged in the mid-1970s was a new school that embraced the best of its predecessors as it forged a new and unique identity. The foundation of a Kent Denver education — quality teaching, high expectations, and character development — remains the same. Our goal is to help each student value intellectual curiosity, learning, and collaboration as integral to a healthy, productive life. Through rigorous academics, athletics, extracurricular offerings, and a consistent focus on character development, Kent Denver School fully prepares its students for the opportunities and challenges that lie beyond its campus.

Talented, motivated students at Kent Denver are challenged to pursue advanced studies in academic and creative expression. Special one-on-one learning opportunities with faculty members, performances, study with professionals outside the school, independent study, and other activities enhance and expand individual learning and development. The outcomes of this focus are demonstrated in the number and range of awards earned by our students, in addition to their exemplary performance on national examinations. Kent Denver students thrive in the most competitive colleges and universities throughout the nation.
