About Casady School

Casady School is a PreK-12, independent, college preparatory Episcopal day school committed to deeper-level learning. Since the School’s founding in 1947, Casady has taken great pride in being an institution that was modeled after the best Independent Schools in the nation to provide excellence in education. From educational programming to endowment growth to strategic planning and initiatives, Casady’s Board of Trustees and Administration today follow the intentionality set forth by the School’s founders. Like these great schools, Casady is always in a cycle of continuous improvement, looking to what’s just over the horizon.

The School was founded by The Right Reverend Thomas Casady, Bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Oklahoma, along with some farsighted Oklahoma City citizens and a group of businessmen. Their desire was to establish an inclusive, family-oriented, co-educational institution to serve the growing educational needs of Oklahoma City. Today, the campus consists of approximately 80 acres and includes 29 buildings, athletic fields and a centerpiece six-acre lake.

The focus of the School has always been on the development of the mind, body and spirit of each student. The School’s mission is to develop excellence, confidence, and integrity in students and prepare them with the skills and knowledge that serve as the foundation for their success. One of the pillars of that foundation is The Chapel of St. Edward the Confessor, which serves to nourish the spirit of every student. The arts, too, have flourished over the years, from community-wide productions to award-winning individual and group performances in instrumental and vocal music and in the visual arts. The emphasis on the whole student also includes physical fitness. Athletic competition is through 21 sports over three seasons during the academic year.

Casady School is accredited by the Independent Schools Association of the Southwest and is a member of the National Association of Independent Schools, Southwestern Association of Episcopal Schools, and Southwest Preparatory Conference. Casady has been accepted for membership in the Oklahoma Secondary School Activities Association (OSSAA) and will remain as an Associate Member of the SPC for Boys’ Volleyball and Field Hockey. Casady School welcomes a student body that reflects the diversity of the world around us and therefore does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, gender identity, sexual orientation, socioeconomic status, nationality, or ethnic origin.

Upper Division (grades 9-12) is known for its outstanding college-preparatory curriculum and placement program. Students experience all disciplines through a liberal arts lens that allows them mobility and the freedom to pursue academic interests while fulfilling strict graduation requirements. Casady offers a unique curriculum that includes Regular (all college preparatory), Honors, Advanced Placement, and Post-AP courses (e.g., Multivariable Calculus/Linear Algebra, Greek, college-level English seminars, and Malone’s Stanford Online Network). An exclusive Interdisciplinary Studies program features a signature course that is team-taught by faculty across departments and earns dual History and English credits. This program involves inquiry-based learning and public presentations with the opportunity for students to apply for independent capstone projects their senior year. Accelerated course work is available throughout the School’s curriculum to anyone who demonstrates mastery of prerequisite material. Athletic and Fine Arts requirements ensure that Casady students are prepared to live a life of balance, purpose, and joy beyond Casady School.

Students at Casady have the opportunity to participate in a wide variety of enriching activities. It is not unusual to find a varsity football player cast as the lead in a theatrical production or the winner of an academic award running down the field wielding a hockey stick. Faculty members devote unending hours serving as mentors and working to bring out the best in their students whether it be scholastically, athletically, spiritually, or in the extra-curricular arena. Casady is a caring community where its students are the most important commodity. Casady has more than 4,000 alumni who continue to make positive impacts, on not only our community, but the world.
