Founded in 1970, Charlotte Latin School is an independent, non-sectarian, coeducational, college-preparatory day school serving 1,500+ students in transitional kindergarten through grade twelve.
Located in Charlotte, North Carolina, on a wooded 128-acre campus, Latin’s mission is to encourage individual development and civility in our students by inspiring them to learn, by encouraging them to serve others, and by offering them many growth-promoting opportunities. The developmental needs of the maturing child are realized by the implementation of an innovative pedagogy, which is taught in a traditional environment. Instruction stresses academic excellence, intellectual curiosity, and a lifelong love of learning.
Latin’s faculty members value each child, thereby creating the strong foundation and safe atmosphere needed to challenge yet nurture children. The School’s balanced curriculum, which includes a comprehensive athletic program and a significant commitment to the arts, encourages our students to explore and develop their interests and talents. A vibrant international exchange and sister school program prepares our students for global citizenship, while a student-led community service program supports our students’ commitment to serve others in the local community.
Above all, Latin is a school where families of diverse backgrounds, races, religions, and nationalities share the values of honor, integrity, and mutual respect, as well as an enduring dedication to their children’s educational journey and moral development.
