Founded in 2001 as the first non-parochial independent school in the state of Wyoming, Mountain Academy is one of six programs of Teton Science Schools that help to achieve the Schools’ mission of connecting people, nature, place and education. In addition to Mountain Academy, Teton Science Schools operate a residential Field Education Program, a Graduate Program, the Teacher Learning Center, the Conservation Research Center and Wildlife Expeditions.
The Mountain Academy campus is located on nearly 900 acres of conservation easement land in a small canyon in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. The campus, constructed in 2005, features high-performance green buildings that are integrated into the landscape while allowing for learning to take place both inside and outside of the traditional classroom.
As a small school, Mountain Academy is able to offer individual attention, permitting individualized educational programs. Independent study, capstone programs, accelerated learning, enrichment opportunities and challenging academics allow gifted students perfect opportunities for learning. We seek students who are ready for this challenge. Our graduates have enrolled in colleges and universities across the nation and the world. Mountain Academy was accredited by the Pacific Northwest Association of Independent Schools (PNAIS) in 2006 and authorized to offer the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme for grades 11 and 12 in 2010.
